There's this movement from God-knows-where called "The Butterfly Effect" wherein people from all over the world, suffering from depression or not, are encouraged to draw butterflies on their wrists as a sign of support for our depressed and self-harming homies. (ok, i didn't want to say brothers and sisters)
So, here are the steps/rules of this movement from The Butterfly Project's Facebook Page:
Steps/Rules:
1. Draw a butterfly.
2. Name it.
3. DON'T CUT!
4. If you do cut, you have killed your butterfly. (It isn't the end of the world if this happens, people will still be there for you, but for your sake, try your best to not cut)
5. Let it fade naturally. You can not scrub it off purposefully.
6. Enjoy your life. =)
I have never harmed myself on purpose because, aside from the fact that I feel queasy at the sight of blood and I cry like a baby even from minor scratches, I had God and my wonderful family and friends who would support me in my lowest points in my life. But not all people are as fortunate as me. So, to all who know what it's like to be depressed and to lose all hope, I encourage you to join the movement and support all these people suffering from this sad condition.
I used my Maybelline smudge-proof and water-proof gel eyeliner to "tattoo" my butterfly on my left wrist. I named my butterfly Loki (coz I just watched Thor and I think Loki's such a cutie patootie name). I won't scrub it off, nor would I cut my wrists. *cries from imagined pain* :((((
Hours after I did mine, my sisters asked me to draw butterflies on their wrists too. Genine and Gwen named their butterflies Ploopy and Prince William (Girl and Boy). WE SUPPORT! <3
