The Butterfly Effect

Happy May 4th everyone! To most of us, this day doesn't mean anything (or probably, it's Star Wars day to some). But for the thousands of people suffering from depression and self-harming addictions, this day is a day of hope and a new life.

There's this movement from God-knows-where called "The Butterfly Effect" wherein people from all over the world, suffering from depression or not, are encouraged to draw butterflies on their wrists as a sign of support for our depressed and self-harming homies. (ok, i didn't want to say brothers and sisters)

So, here are the steps/rules of this movement from The Butterfly Project's Facebook Page:

Steps/Rules:
1. Draw a butterfly.
2. Name it.
3. DON'T CUT!
4. If you do cut, you have killed your butterfly. (It isn't the end of the world if this happens, people will still be there for you, but for your sake, try your best to not cut)
5. Let it fade naturally. You can not scrub it off purposefully.
6. Enjoy your life. =)

I have never harmed myself on purpose because, aside from the fact that I feel queasy at the sight of blood and I cry like a baby even from minor scratches, I had God and my wonderful family and friends who would support me in my lowest points in my life. But not all people are as fortunate as me. So, to all who know what it's like to be depressed and to lose all hope, I encourage you to join the movement and support all these people suffering from this sad condition.

I used my Maybelline smudge-proof and water-proof gel eyeliner to "tattoo" my butterfly on my left wrist. I named my butterfly Loki (coz I just watched Thor and I think Loki's such a cutie patootie name). I won't scrub it off, nor would I cut my wrists. *cries from imagined pain* :((((

Hours after I did mine, my sisters asked me to draw butterflies on their wrists too. Genine and Gwen named their butterflies Ploopy and Prince William (Girl and Boy). WE SUPPORT! <3

Happy butterfly-ing, everyone! And May the fourth be with you!

I hate ponytails coz they expose my ginormous forehead

Yes, unfortunately, this is how I look like when I make pretty awesome cakes. Oh, the irony! I have to have my hair up so it won't go all over the place, and I cover my ginormous forehead because, well, it's ginormous and I don't like it.

So last week was our hell week, we had to make 5 cakes in 5 days. It was stressful and for days I looked like that^ but everything was worth it because we got to make "The perfect wedding cake" for the renewal of our clients' wedding vows! HEEHEEEEEEE. I'm so kilig because I believe in true love, happy endings, and fairy tales. Walang kokontra, ok. And I was so glad Genin and I got to play a part in this particular person's story.

Yes, she spelled my name wrong but it doesn't bother me anymore coz I'm used to it and it doesn't really matter because she freakin lovedddd what we made her and her family! <3 EVERYTHING ELSE DOESN'T MATTER.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to make people happy with food. <3

Love,
Guian Guillain

Cake Mania

This week I got to play Cake Mania, only I was making real cakes for real people in real life.

See you might think 5 orders is konti for a week. BUT IT REALLY ISN'T. Well, for now it isn't coz my sister and I are the only ones running the Cake Shack so it's really hard to think of the design and do the manual labor. HAHA stressful

Cake 1: Bea's Baby Shower Cake
This cake was actually really fun to make. Especially the fake melted ice cream topper! SO CUTE. I delivered it to S&R in Fort and yes, my awesome sense of direction had me driving in circles again.

Cake 2: Kiddie Wedding Cake
It's kiddie and cartoony, just the way they wanted it. The bride owns a farm and the groom works as an electrical engineer somewhere. Hence, the electrical post and the cow being electrocuted.

Cake 3: Desk Cake
This was also super fun! I enjoyed hand painting each of the keys. I used my Mac as the guideline for the keyboard and now it has royal icing stains all over and it's covered in confectioner's sugar. Plus, wood grain. I LOVE THE WOOD GRAIN EFFECT.

Cake 4: Family Picnic
From the same client who ordered the desk cake, a family cake for their renewal of vows! How kyooot. Nothing much to say about it, though. But I loved the picnic basket genin made.

Cake 5: Golf cuppycake tower aka my favorite

Aside from the vagina cupcakes, I also wanna make these for my Dad. :) He's an ob-gyn who loves golf. Wouldn't that be per-pek? Get it get it? O__o

All of these cake look so happy! And their happiness created dark circles under my eyes as a souvenir. O___O

After a whole week of caking, I just wanna watch criminal minds today. Just today, please? CRIMINAL MINDS <3 Scares me to death but I still love it!

Sooooo I have no idea where I got this picture, but it's definitely not mine. It was a random post on tumblr which I decided to save. Why? Because this, right here, is my contingency plan. HAHA

If I ever end up with a guy who's the same height as me or, God forbid, shorter, I'd end up wearing these awesome purple Chucks to my wedding! And YES, I will get married, walang kokontra.

I went home for the Holy Week and pretended to be a tourist in my hometown

Well, not really. I prolly just looked like one.

Although I was born and raised in La Union, I never really got to enjoy it this much. I shied away from all cultural events plus I never really got to learn Ilocano. But ever since my sister and I decided to move to Manila for cake, I've been wanting to familiarize myself with my province so I don't become a complete stranger to it every time I go home. Sooooo, here is what I did!

Well, actually, the first thing I did was completely unrelated to my awesome vacation. I had to deliver a monster cake to someone from there. :) Stitch, the bunny (according to my auntie), says hello!

Thanks to this monster, I had money to spend! Which I never got to use anyway 'cause everything was free, care of my Ate Gwen and parents. woohoo!

Gwen took me surfing in Sebay, San Juan. I've surfed ONCE before. Imagine? I live in the surfing capital of the bilibins and I've only surfed once! And that was after I graduated from college.

I had to brush up my non-existent surfing skillzz and my surf instructor, Jericho, didn't mind teaching me despite my slowness and fear of jellyfish. HAHA seriously. I don't want anyone peeing on my body parts. :|

After a couple of falls, and some instances where I swallowed water through my nose, I finally got the hang of it again! The waves weren't that strong so I got a little sea sick. They were supposed to give us two hours for the price of one but I swear I felt so nauseated that I didn't wanna risk throwing up on the surf board. gross.
look at how amused I am.

Aside from surfing, I got a henna tattoo which I absolutely love! It's specially designed for the crazeh cake girl. My high school friend, Sheena, coerced me to get one.
Isn't it lovely??? Although, someone mistook it as cheese. O___o
Sheena with her tattoo artist! She got a butterfly tattoo which she is currently removing because apparently, nurses can't have tattoos! HAHA

After beach bumming and whatnot, I went home on Easter Sunday in a crowded pickup truck. The normal 4-5 hour trip turned into an 8-hour trip of hell with my dog and two other people at the back.

Now it's back to reality! And my reality right now is to try and tame all the inappropriateness in our facebook page. IMAGINE, people call each other feces over a Big Gay Rainbow Cake? So much for the happiness. Oh well. More on that later.

I think some of these need to see a doctor

from http://smartmath.tumblr.com/post/4832410550

I saw this on tumblr! So fanneh. It was around 9pm and my parents were already sleeping but I just had to wake up my Dad. Before you get all grossed and weirded out as to why I wanted to show this to my Dad, he's an OB-GYN so he sees these (the real ones) for a living.

Me: Dad, wake up! Wake up! Look at these cupcakes, I'll make them for your birthday so you could share it with the elders in Church
Dad: Ano yan? *squints* Pekpek. Ayoko yan. Nakakasawa.

My Ate Gwen and I took a closer look on the different kinds of tuduts. We spotted the old kind, the overused kind, the menstruating kind, the warty kind, omg. I can go on and on.

Oh the fun you can have with food. :)

Sunday night church makeup

Hello! It's Sunday and I just came from our church's 7pm service. Before we left, I took some low quality photobooth pictures of how I wore my hair and makeup this evening.

I told you they were low quality! :D This one was after I did my hair, before all the makeup. See my dark circles??? And my lips were extraordinarily dry. My hair was side swept into a messy bun. I had to curl my hair a little bit to add volume. Plus, I put tons of mousse and hair spray to secure everything. I have really short hair that misbehaves when up-done.

This is what it looks like from the back but, obviously, this picture doesn't help at all!

For makeup, I used achromatic colors (shades of black) of eyeshadow, without eyeliner! I usually go out with eyeliner on my top lids to make my eyes fuller and less chinky. But I was too lazy to do so. It turned out pretty decent, I think.

I contoured my nose but, sadly, it doesn't show on photobooth that much. I did a little bit of blush (actually darker than usual, since it's evening) and contouring in the cheek hollows and the jaw line. With a face this round, contouring is the way to go! HAHA. I didn't touch my eyebrows anymore coz we were running late! Luckily, my eyebrows are bushy enough to survive without pencil. =D

Tadaaaa! My sunday night church makeup. =D
